Agreement between AUSD and Traveling Tidepools.pdf

Rationale:
Traveling Tidepools will offer small group assemblies that increase student literacy around science, including marine biology and ecosystems, while promoting critical thinking and deepening understanding of human impact on marine environments. Students will engage in a lesson taught by sea-life experts that include displays on tidepools, scuba diving, and ocean life zones and will then have an opportunity to have hands-on experiences with live animals in the touch pool. This on-site field trip opportunity will be utilized as a way to incentivize outstanding student attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism. Students will be invited to this event based on existing outstanding attendance and/or ongoing outstanding growth in attendance leading up to the date of the event. Up to 210 Murray Elementary School students, across all grade levels, will participate in these assemblies on May 05, 2025. This is the first time AUSD will be working with Traveling Tidepools.
Budgetary Impact:
The cost, not to exceed $2,995, to be paid from Community Schools funds.
